Best Weekend Bets

They're calling for a chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday, but good news: there are plenty of things to do indoors. Have a safe and wonderful weekend.

Fishing Derby
There are plenty of rainbow trout in the ponds at Tingley Beach, just waiting to be caught. The 6th annual Free Fishing Derby takes place Saturday, April 14 from 7 am. to 4 p.m. The first 40 kids 8 and younger to catch a trout will win a free Pirates of the Caribbean sleeping bag. Get there early (sunrise) for a spot along the pond. And yes, breakfast burritos will be for sale in the Tingley Cafe for anyone rushing out the door.

Mother Load Sale
The Mother Load sale has consignment items that include clothes, toys, furniture, maternity wear, and more. Find what you need from newborn to teen plus maternity. The sale happens all weekend.

NM International Auto Show
Foreign and domestic manufacturers will be on hand to showcase autos and answer questions. See them at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Buy tickets online and get $1 off. It's happening all weekend.

Legally Blonde - The Musical
The Musical Theatre Southwest show opens Friday, April 13 at their newly renovated space. The musical features Elle Woods, who discovers she has brains and ambition enough to win back the man who jilted her. Opens Friday, April 13.

NM Philharmonic Neighborhood Concert
The New Mexico Philharmonic will perform at Congregation Albert with David Felberg conducting. Gabriel Landstedt will perform on the piano and Mario Bastea-Forte will perform on cello. Both are winners of the Jackie McGhee Young Artists' Competition. On Saturday, April 14.

Albuquerque Youth Symphony Concerts
The Albuquerque Youth Symphony orchestras will perform a series of free concerts at Popejoy Hall, with young musicians from 3rd grade through 12th. Younger student concerts begin at 2 p.m., high school orchestras begin at 6 p.m. This is a free event at Popejoy Hall. The concerts start at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 15.

Cause of the Week

Even if you can't participate in a walk/run, you can always be a virtual walker and donate to a good cause.

Ellen Reavis Race for Autism
The race takes place at Balloon Fiesta Park this year, on Saturday, April 14.

Walk MS
Join Walk MS and help raise funds and awareness about MS. Join singly or with a team for a 1 or 2.5 mile route. Saturday, April 14, starts at Tiguex Park in Old Town.
