Zoo Music: Texas Tornados
Every Friday at the Zoo, enjoy live music. The gates open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7:30 p.m. This week, the Tex-Mex sounds of the Texas Tornados fill the air. Hear them July 6.
Dixieland Jazz in Old Town
The city of Albuquerque and the Outpost Performance Space will honor the late Albuquerque jazz saxophonist Dick Trask in this free concert. Local band Jazz a la Carte will perform, as well as SRW Trio, the Santa Fe Chiles and the Route 66 Revelers. The free concert takes place in Old Town Plaza from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, July 6 and 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, July 7.
Pork and Brew
Over 50 BBQ competitors from around the U.S. will be competing for the chance to go to the nationals held in Kansas City. Get out and taste some of the best BBQ there is in the parking lot of the Santa Ana Star Center. There will be activities for the kids as well as arts and crafts vendors. The Pork 'N Brew runs July 6 - 8.
Santa Fe Wine Festival
Visit with the folks from New Mexico's wineries, enjoy tasting wine, and listen to some great music at El Rancho de las Golondrinas. On Saturday, hear the music of Boris McCutcheon and the Salt Lick Trio and Havana Son. On Sunday, hear the music of Zenobia and La Junta. The festival runs July 7 and 8.
Angel Street
This classic murder mystery is set in foggy London in 1880. The film version was Gas Light starring Ingrid Bergman. Married for five years, the Manninghams encounter strange phenomena, and a detective comes in to help. The play runs weekends through July 29 at the Adobe Theater.
The Little Mermaid
The PLAY Conservatory presents a tale about a little mermaid who wanted to be a real girl. The show runs this weekend and next at St. Pius High School.
Cause of the Week
Hoof It To Happy Hour
The third annual Hoof It to Happy Hour is a 5K run/walk on the bosque. The all ages event takes place after work on Friday, July 6 and 100% of your entry fee benefits the Carrie Tingley Hosptial Foundation, and Carrie Tingley kids. Get out and get fit and show your support for New Mexico's children with special needs. The race starts and ends at Ned's on the Rio Grande, 1100 Rio Grande NW.
