Solofest
The show at the Filling Station features 16 solo performers taking the stage in a festival of works that include dance, theater and more. This year there will be a Spoken Word event and a Comedic Monologue. There are workshops as well. Through July 29.
Zombiethon: Part 1
The first Friday Fright Nights featuring a Zombie theme features the movie Creepshow. See it at the KiMo Theatre downtown on July 27.
Zoo Music: Kim Richey
Kim Richey has been nominated for a Grammy two times. Her music is part tale, part folk rock, and a little dash of country. Spend an evening at the zoo and enjoy, on Friday, July 27.
New Mexico Jazz Festival
This is its last weekend of the festival. Hear Diane Reeves, known for her scat singing, on Friday, July 27. On July 28, A.B. Spellman conducts a free event with Sheila Jordan and Jon Hendricks, in the afternoon. And Saturday evening, Kurt Elling and Jon Hendricks will perform. All shows are at the Lensic in Santa Fe.
Shark Discovery Day
Learn about sharks at the Albuquerque Aquarium on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be discovery stations set up to introduce visitors to the five species of sharks in the tank. The special events are included with the price of admission.
Community Summer Sing
The audience can join in with the choral group Quintessence at this community event. No matter your training, or lack thereof, join in the fun. You become the choir! From 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 28. The event is free.
Shakespeare's As You Like It
See Shakespeare in the park on July 28, with a repeat performance August 4. The comedy will be performed by teens in the inaugural production of the Youth Summer Shakespeare Intensive.
Herb and Lavender Fair
Tour the lavender gardens, find lavender products, learn how to cultivate this herb and
enjoy hands-on activities. If you enjoy lavender, you'll love this fair at Los Ranchos de los Golondrinas. It's happening July 28 and 29.
Spanish Market
Head to the Santa Fe Plaza for the largest exhibition and sale of traditional Spanish Colonial and Hispanic arts. The market continues Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29.
Sybarite 5
The dynamic music of Sybarite 5 will be at the Kosmos for their Sunday Chatter on July 29 in the morning. But if that's too early, hear them again at the Hotel Andaluz in the afternoon.
Footloose
Musical Theater Southwest performs Footloose, the musical at the African American Performing Arts Center. The score has been nominated for an Oscar and Tony. The story follows a young man from Chicago to a small farming town, where he encounters an unexpected ban on dancing.
