Free Butterfly Effect Event Friday March 2

butterfly

Just as a butterfly's flapping wings can help lead to a hurricane years later, works of art can create a difference. Find out for yourself this Friday, March 2 at the Harwood Art Center, where The Butterfly Effect, the first of what promises to be an annual event, will feature a smorgasbord of activities and entertainment.

The Fractal Foundation will have hands-on fractal art activities (fractivities) and students from Escuela del Sol will show their fractal artwork. A gallery exhibit features the work of New Mexican artists such as Joel Peter Witkin, Cynthia Cook and Thomas Barrow. The Harwood Studios will be open for touring, with artists on hand to discuss their work.

Seth Hoffman and the Swamp Cooler Magnets will play bluegrass. And there will be films: a screening of the locally-made short "Under the Stairs" and film projections will happen throughout the building.

The Harwood Art Center is locted at 1114 7th NW (in the Wells Park neighborhood). The free Butterfly Effect event runs from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
