Best Weekend Bets

Get out this weekend to enjoy some amazing events. Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Spring Festival and Children's Fair
Kids can try on clothes from yesteryear, make a willow wand, weave, make a tortilla and enjoy the arts of the historic ranch at El Rancho de los Golondrinas. The fair happens Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3.

Albuquerque Folk Festival
The annual folk festival brings together musicians, dance, workshops, talent shows, and activities for the kids, such as the instrument petting zoo. This is a participatory festival, so bring dancing shoes! The festival moves this year to the Balloon Museum on Saturday, June 2.

Jazz and Blues Under the Stars: Big Band Extravaganza
Hear the Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra and the New Mexico Jazz Workshop Youth Honor Bands in this first of the summer series at the museum on Saturday, June 2.

National Free Fishing Day
Head to Tingley Beach for a day of fishing on Saturday, June 2. There will be a fishing clinic and learning stations for the kids. For one day, no license is required.

Museums on Us at Albuquerque Museum of Art and History
The first full weekend of the month, Bank of America cardholders can enjoy one free admission at the Albuquerque Art museum. Find other free admission days for Albuquerque area museums.

Old Church Artfest
Original arts and crafts are on hand in this juried show on June 2 and 3. Weaving, metalwork, paintings, sculpture and more are for sale. There will be music and food. Net proceeds go to preserving the old church. The free event takes place at the San Ysidro Church in Corrales.

Blues at the Blueseum
The second year of the now annual event at the Balloon Museum features Tab Benoit from Louisiana, along with local favorites Sweetlife, the Rudy Boy Experiment, Felix y Los Gatos and the Memphis P-Tails. There will be food and beverages, a beer garden and picnics are okay. Bring a lawn chair and blankets; it's happening Sunday, June 3.
